Samantha Kane Jiménez is a program assistant at the Mexico Institute. She graduated from Colby College in December 2020 with a B.A. in government, focusing her studies on armed conflict and political violence, international development, and good governance, exploring these interests with mixed methods research. She was awarded the Mavrinac Prize for original research for her thesis on armed non-state actors’ power accrual mechanisms during apolitical national crises, which she later presented at the Walsh Exchange X. Outside of academia, Sam interned for a Mexican political campaign in 2018, worked as a translator and content editor for Marble Law, and interned at the Mexico Institute before joining as a full-time staff member. She is bilingual in English and Spanish.
