Expert Bio
Mr. Yared Debebe is an IPSS representative and Ph.D. candidate in Peace and Security Studies at Addis Ababa University in Ethiopia. Since 2012, he has been a lecturer and researcher in Peace and Security Studies at the University of Gondar. Previously Yared was a Southern Voices Network for Peacebuilding Scholar, DAAD alumnus, Civil Society Scholars Award fellow, and visiting researcher at the Arnold-Bergstraesster-Institute (ABI), University of Freiburg. He has received the Africa Research Universities Alliance (ARUA) research fellowship. Yared has published journal articles and a book chapter. His area of research interest includes nationalism, social movement, peacebuilding, and post-conflict reconstruction in the Horn of Africa. He was a Southern Voices Network for Peacebuilding (SVNP) Scholar during the spring 2022 (January to April) term at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in Washington, D.C.
