Project Summary
Studies A. Harriman’s role in American-Soviet relations, examining his diplomacy (both official and informal), advisory, educational and lobbying activities and their impact on shaping U.S. Soviet policy and American perceptions of Russia. Elaborates upon a major phases of American-Soviet relations, spanning the 1940s-early 1980s. Also explores the interaction between Soviet and American political cultures and styles of diplomacy.
