Expert Bio
Dr. Akihiro Iwashita is a professor at the Slavic-Eurasian Research Center at Hokkaido University. He currently teaches courses on border studies, Russian foreign policy, and Eurasian international relations. His research focuses on the development of the Russian economy with a special emphasis on macroeconomic growth and structural changes, as well as the Russian Far East and Japanese-Russian relations. Dr. Iwashita received his S.J.D. and LL.B. in Political Science from Kyushu University and his LL.M. in international law from Kitakyushu University. Dr. Iwashita has previously spoken at the Kennan Institute on the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and participated in a Kennan Institute conference on the evolution of Slavic studies and the Meso-Area approach.
