Building Peace Through Music: The South Asian Symphony Orchestra

In this edition of Wilson Center NOW, Ambassador Nirupama Rao highlights her work promoting mutual understanding in South Asia through the creation of a South Asian Symphony Orchestra (SASO).

In this edition of Wilson Center NOW, we are joined by Ambassador Nirupama Rao, Wilson Center Global Fellow;  Former Indian Foreign Secretary and Former Indian Ambassador to Washington and Beijing.  She highlights her work as Founder-Trustee of The South Asian Symphony Foundation (SASF), a not-for-profit Trust which is dedicated to promoting mutual understanding in South Asia through the creation of a South Asian Symphony Orchestra (SASO). The inspiration came from Ambassador Rao’s years in diplomacy and what she saw as, "a felt need for providing a platform to promote more dialogue, cultural synergy, and friendly understanding among the youth of the eight countries in South Asia, including India."
