Expert Bio

Tobias Smith is an Assistant Professor at the Administration of Justice at Ohlone College. Tobias Smith’s research focuses on the causes of variation in criminal punishment, particularly in China and the United States. His most recent project is a study of death penalty reform in China. His work has been published in journals such as Law & Social Inquiry, Punishment & Society and The British Journal of Criminology. He holds a Ph.D. from the Jurisprudence and Social Policy Program at the University of California Berkeley, a J.D. from Berkeley Law School and a B.A. from Oberlin College.
