Ambassador Paul Wolfowitz spent more than three decades as a public servant, ambassador and educator, including 24 years in government service under seven U.S. presidents. In addition to three senior positions with the State Department, as Director of Policy Planning, Assistant Secretary of State for East Asia and U.S. Ambassador to Indonesia, he also served in the Defense Department during three different administrations, as a Deputy Assistant Secretary under Secretary Harold Brown, as Undersecretary for Policy under Secretary Dick Cheney and as Deputy Secretary under Secretary Donald Rumsfeld. Most recently, he served as the 10th president of the World Bank. Currently, Amb. Wolfowitz is a visiting scholar at the American Enterprise Institute and serves as chairman of the U.S.-Taiwan Business Council and on the advisory boards of several non-profit organizations that support veterans.
Formerly, Amb. Wolfowitz served as dean and professor of international relations at the Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies at The Johns Hopkins University, and taught political science at Yale University. Amb. Wolfowitz has written widely on foreign policy, diplomacy and national security, and was a member of the advisory board of Foreign Affairs.
Amb. Wolfowitz majored in mathematics at Cornell University and earned a Ph.D. in political science at the University of Chicago.
