Expert Bio

Juan Luis Dammert Bello is a Program Officer at Oxfam Peru and a consultant for the Universidad del Pacífico in Lima, Peru. At Oxfam, he coordinates a project on land rights and agribusiness in Peru and Colombia. His academic research has focused on environmental safeguards for development bank infrastructure projects and the expansion of large-scale farming in the Peruvian Amazon. Between 2007 and 2012, he worked for the Peruvian Society for Environmental Law and served as an adjunct professor at the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, where he was in charge of the environmental section of the Latin America Diploma on Extractive Industries. He has published research for GRADE, Oxfam, the Universidad del Pacífico, and ICAA-USAID. He holds a M.A. and Ph.D. in Geography from Clark University and a B.A. in Sociology from the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú.
