Jeffery M. Paige is a Professor of Sociology at the University of Michigan, where he has served as Director of the Center for Research on Social Organization and was a Founder of the Program for the Comparative Study of Social Transformations. His first book, a comparative study of revolution in Vietnam, Peru and Angola, received the Sorokin Award of the American Sociological Association. He was a Fulbright Scholar in El Salvador, Nicaragua and Costa Rica, all of which he visited frequently in the revolutionary decade of 1979-1992. He is currently working on a comparative study of the discourse of indigenous revolution in Bolivia and Ecuador based on interviews with indigenous leaders from 2008 to 2011.
