Expert Bio

David Coleman is Associate Professor of History at the University of Virginia and chair of the Presidential Recordings Program at the Miller Center for Public Affairs. He specializes in foreign relations since 1945, nuclear history, and 20th-century U.S. political history.  In October 2012, W.W. Norton published The Fourteenth Day: JFK and the Aftermath of the Cuban Missile Crisis: The Secret White House Tapes. Current projects include: an international history of the Berlin crisis; a study of American policy toward Vietnam from 1962 to 1964 (with Fredrik Logevall and Marc Selverstone) that uses newly declassified White House recordings; and a history of nuclear deterrence (with Joseph M. Siracusa).
