Expert Bio
Clare Seelke is a Specialist in Latin American Affairs at Congressional Research Service. She has over twenty years of experience in research and analysis on U.S. Latin American relations, security issues in Latin America, U.S. foreign assistance, and political developments in Mexico and Central America. Seelke has published numerous reports to address Congressional queries on topics, such as Gangs in Central America and the Mérida Initiative. She has testified before Congress on U.S.-Mexican security cooperation, and collaborates with government officials, academic experts, embassies in the United States and across the region. She has taught courses on U.S-Mexican relations in both Mexico and the United states for students, academics, and foreign service officers. Seelke holds a Bachelors of Arts in Political Science and Spanish from the University of Notre Dame and a Masters of Public Affairs, Latin American Studies and Public Policy from the University of Texas Austin.
