Time for Tax Reform in Latin America? – A Conversation with Finance Ministers
The Latin American super-cycle of elections this year and next, and policy uncertainty across the region and beyond, have placed new pressure on government finances in particular. At the same time, education, energy and transportation infrastructure, and social programs are more needed than ever.
What are the major trends in the region’s fiscal landscape—and is there an opportunity for far-reaching tax reform in the countries of Latin America?
On April 20, we held a conversation with the finance minister of Paraguay, the finance minister of Peru, and the deputy finance minister of Argentina, alongside leading officials from the OECD Development Centre, the Inter-American Development Bank, and the United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean.
A new report, Revenue Statistics in Latin America and the Caribbean 2018, was also presented.
