Reactions to the Recent Russian Elections from Kennan Institute Alumni

Over the last week, Russian citizens have been discussing the results of the various elections that were held on September 8, including those for the heads of eight sub-federal units of the Russian Federation as well as for members to the legislative assemblies in 16 regions of the Russian Federation. There were a total of approximately 7,000 elections in 80 regions of Russia last Sunday, and for the first time in recent years, an election was held for the mayor of Moscow. Former Kennan Institute scholars have added their voices to understanding the outcomes of the elections.

Keep checking back as we will continue to post commentary by our alumni on the elections as they come in.
